Stream-It Download app

Multi-camera live streaming with phones

To live stream with several cameras, install Stream-It on every phone. One Android phone runs the production; the others join as cameras by scanning its QR or typing the camera code, over the same Wi-Fi or the internet. You switch between them live, add overlays and stream to several platforms at once.

How to live stream with several phones as cameras

  1. Choose the production phonePick the phone with the best battery and connection. It runs the show: cameras, Screens, overlays and sound.
  2. Start a new streamOn the production phone, start a new stream in Stream-It and give it a title.
  3. Connect the camera phonesInstall Stream-It on each spare phone and join as a camera with the QR or camera code. Its picture appears on the production phone.
  4. Build your ScreensMake a Screen for each shot (a single camera, or cameras with overlays) so you can switch in one tap.
  5. Go liveTurn on YouTube, Facebook or any other platform you use (several at once is fine), turn on recording, check the picture and tap Go live.

Use the phones you already have as cameras

A multi-camera live stream usually means cameras, cables and a laptop. With Stream-It the cameras are phones: an old phone in a drawer, a friend's phone or a second family phone can each become an angle.

The production phone sees every camera at once. Tap a camera or a Screen to put it on air, and the switched picture, with your overlays and sound, goes to every platform you turned on.

Same Wi-Fi or over the internet

Camera phones on the same Wi-Fi as the production phone connect over the local network: they need no internet of their own, and the picture is the sharpest. Only the production phone needs internet to send the stream.

A camera in another place, such as a remote guest, joins over the internet with a camera code or link.

Where to put the cameras

  • A wide shot that always shows the whole scene. It is the shot you can always cut back to.
  • One or two close-ups for faces and details.
  • A roaming phone held by a helper for reactions and moments the fixed cameras miss.

Key facts about Stream-It

  • What it is: Stream-It by CrickHunt is a live streaming app for Android that turns phones into a live production. One phone runs the show: it switches cameras, Screens, overlays and sound, streams and records.
  • Platforms: YouTube, Facebook and any other platform that gives you an RTMP or RTMPS server address and stream key. Several platforms at the same time from one phone.
  • Cameras: the production phone's own camera plus other phones that join as cameras, on the same Wi-Fi (no internet needed between them) or over the internet with a camera code or link.
  • On screen: text, images and logos, a logo slider, web page overlays and video clips; Screens you switch live; Starting soon and Be right back screens; break music and a sound mixer with faders.
  • Quality: 720p and 1080p, and 2K or 4K where the phone can do it. Auto quality lowers the bitrate on a weak network, and recording on the phone keeps going if the internet drops.
  • What you need: an Android phone, a Stream-It account (log in with your phone number) and, to go live, internet on the phone that sends the stream.
  • Availability: Android on Google Play; iPhone app coming soon; Windows production desk coming soon (join the waitlist).

Questions people ask

Can I use my phone as a camera for a live stream?

Yes. Install Stream-It on the spare phone and join the production as a camera with the QR or camera code shown on the production phone. Its picture appears there, ready to switch to.

Do the camera phones need internet?

No, not on the same Wi-Fi: the cameras connect to the production phone over the local network. A camera can also join from another place over the internet with a camera code or link.

How many cameras can I connect?

There is no fixed limit. The number that works well depends on your Wi-Fi or internet and on the production phone.

Can I record while I stream?

Yes. The production phone records the show while it streams, and the recording keeps going if the internet drops.

Can I stream to YouTube and Facebook at the same time?

Yes. Turn on both before you go live and the same show goes to both from one phone. Other platforms work with their RTMP or RTMPS server address and stream key.
