Any sport, the same plan

Football, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, hockey or cricket: cover the whole field from halfway, high up, and add a phone behind each end for the close action. A fourth phone at the bench catches players and coaches.

Choose 60 fps for fast sports. Keep phones plugged in for long games.

Streaming a whole tournament

  • Start a new stream for each match so every game gets its own title and its own video.
  • Prepare Screens once (Starting soon, Match, Close-up, Half-time, Full-time) and reuse them for every match.
  • Add team logos as image overlays and the score as text, or as a live scoreboard web page.
  • Take tripods, power banks and mobile data with a good upload. Camera phones on the same Wi-Fi hotspot need no data of their own.
  • On a weak network choose 720p and keep Auto quality on; the recording on the phone keeps going if the internet drops.

Key facts about Stream-It

  • What it is: Stream-It by CrickHunt is a live streaming app for Android that turns phones into a live production. One phone runs the show: it switches cameras, Screens, overlays and sound, streams and records.
  • Platforms: YouTube, Facebook and any other platform that gives you an RTMP or RTMPS server address and stream key. Several platforms at the same time from one phone.
  • Cameras: the production phone's own camera plus other phones that join as cameras, on the same Wi-Fi (no internet needed between them) or over the internet with a camera code or link.
  • On screen: text, images and logos, a logo slider, web page overlays and video clips; Screens you switch live; Starting soon and Be right back screens; break music and a sound mixer with faders.
  • Quality: 720p and 1080p, and 2K or 4K where the phone can do it. Auto quality lowers the bitrate on a weak network, and recording on the phone keeps going if the internet drops.
  • What you need: an Android phone, a Stream-It account (log in with your phone number) and, to go live, internet on the phone that sends the stream.
  • Availability: Android on Google Play; iPhone app coming soon; Windows production desk coming soon (join the waitlist).

Questions people ask

Can I live stream a tournament with just phones?

Yes. One phone runs the production and switches between the other phones, which join as cameras. Add team names and the score as overlays and go live to YouTube, Facebook or both.

Do the camera phones need internet?

Not when they are on the same Wi-Fi as the production phone: the cameras talk to it over the local network. Only the production phone needs internet to send the stream.

How do I show the score on the live stream?

Type the score into a text overlay and update it as the game goes, or add a live scoreboard page from your scoring website as a web page overlay.

Can I stream several matches on the same day?

Yes. Start a new stream for each match so each one gets its own title and its own video on YouTube or Facebook.

Which quality should I use for sports?

1080p at 60 fps for fast sports when the network is good. On a weak network use 720p and keep Auto quality on.
